What is Lawply?

Lawply (lawply.in) is a free web application that helps law students track and manage their internship applications. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What we collect

When you use Lawply, we collect:

  • Account information — your name, email address, and password (hashed, never stored in plain text)
  • Profile data — university, year of study, CGPA, phone number, areas of interest, internship history, and achievements
  • CV data — if you upload a PDF, text is extracted in your browser and saved to your profile. The PDF file itself is not stored on our servers.
  • Application data — which firms you apply to, application status, notes, and saved cover letters
  • Anonymous usage data — page views, device type, and performance metrics via Vercel Analytics. This contains no personal information.

How we use your data

Your data is used solely to provide the Lawply service:

  • Displaying your dashboard, application tracker, and firm recommendations
  • Pre-filling cover letter templates with your profile information
  • Sending email reminders (only if you opt in)
  • Improving the app based on anonymous usage patterns

What we do NOT do

  • We do not sell your data to anyone
  • We do not share your data with third parties for marketing
  • We do not monetize your personal information in any way
  • We do not use your data to train AI models

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored on Supabase, a cloud database platform hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth using industry-standard encryption. The app is hosted on Vercel.

Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics to understand how people use Lawply (which pages are visited, load times, etc.). This data is anonymous and aggregated — it does not identify individual users and contains no personal information.

Your rights

You can:

  • View and edit all your data from the Settings page
  • Delete your account and all associated data from Settings
  • Request a copy of your data or ask questions by contacting us through the app

Applicable law

This privacy policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, as applicable.
